Ten Fabric Pulls for Your Next Sweet Nothings Quilt

Do you ever see a beautiful quilt pattern, but have no idea where to start when it comes to fabric??! I know I have been there MANY times. I have literally not made a quilt because I COULD NOT decide on what fabric I should use. The decision paralysis is real.

That is where I come in! Don’t let fabric indecision let you miss out on making this fun Sweet Nothings quilt! I have put together ten fabric pulls that would all make gorgeous Sweet Nothings quilts that you would adore wrapping up in.

I’m sure there will be something you will love in here!

First off, let me give you the lay of the land when it comes to the Sweet Nothings Pattern.

The Sweet Nothing Pattern

The Sweet Nothings pattern is made up of two blocks. One includes a sawtooth star with a heart and the other has a framed square. They are both 9-patch blocks within 9-patch blocks. When the two blocks are sewn together, it creates a secondary diamond pattern.

It is an intermediate pattern because there is a lot of seam matching which may get frustrating for beginner quilter. However, if you are a beginner quilter that feels like taking on a challenge, it is totally doable.

Quilt Sizes

This pattern has two quilt sizes:

  • Baby size - 36” x 36”

  • Throw Size - 60” x 60”

Larger sizes can easily be made by making additional blocks. You could also add additional blocks to the bottom of the quilt to make it rectangular, if you are not a fan of square quilts.

Fabric Requirements

Now for the fun stuff. I have included fat quarter cutting instructions so you can use your favorite fat quarter bundle or yardage. You can even mix and match and use fat quarters for parts of the quilt, and yardage for others. These 10 fabric pulls will use yardage, so that makes it easy. Alright! Let’s freaking get to it!

1. Art Gallery Fabric Mindscape Collection by Katarina Roccella

This fabric collection doesn’t come out until September, but I absolutely love it. It is so magical and reminds me of the simple joys of having a sleepover as a kid. I know this technically doesn’t help you make this quilt right now, but you should definitely add it to you “To Make” list.

Fabric 1: Constellations, Denim

Fabric 2: Starfall, off-white sparkle

Fabric 3: Constellations, Grape

Fabric 4: Sunrise, Curry

Fabric 5: Eclipse, Ballerina Sparkle

9. Figo Fabric Klara Collection by Bernadett Urbanovics (October 2023)

This is very forward thinking, because this line does not release until October, but Klara is freaking adorable. This version reminds me of Fall, which is my favorite season. I would totally curl up under this and drink some apple cider. I literally cannot wait for this fabric to come out. The fabrics are:

Fabric 1: Picnic in Grass

Fabric 2: Elements, Air in White

Fabric 3: Apple Orchard in Night

Fabric 4: Spring Bloom in White

Fabric 5: Tiny Flower in Autumn

10. Figo Fabric Klara Collection by Bernadett Urbanovics VERSION 2

Again, I couldn’t keep it to one version! I really loved throwing the dark fabrics in here to give it a totally different vibe. It is still cozy, but it is more end of Fall-early Winter instead of end of Summer-early Fall.

Fabric 1: Elements, Air in White

Fabric 2: Serenity Basics, Black Smoke Grid

Fabric 3: Apple Orchard in Cream

Fabric 4: Spring Bloom in White

Fabric 5: Dots in Peach

Background: Picnic in Grass

And that rounds out 10 fabric pulls for your Sweet Nothings quilt! If you make one of these versions I NEED to see it! Make sure you tag me on Instagram (@thequiltingsmith) and use the hashtags #SweetNothingsQuilt and #TheQuiltingSmithPatterns.
